First, a quick and sincere thank you for your answers on this blog. Also, I've been developing a very altered retelling of a disney princess classic from the antagonist's point of view. During my research I discovered that a film from that perspective is already scheduled for release March 2014. Do you think the movie will hinder my ability to sell the book? Would you recommend that I instead approach from another POV even though I think the antagonist's experience will have the most impact?

Thanks!

Interesting…I don’t think a film will necessarily hinder your ability to sell the book, but it could be then hard to get your film rights optioned.

That said, I’m a big believer in writing your book so that you can tell the best story possible. Then query it, try to sell it. If you get a lot of feedback the market being too crowded with that type of book, then write something else.
