Using comp titles always scares me a bit because I'm afraid it sounds like I'm show boating. My question is when you use comp titles do you say "my novel such an such is like Looper meets Lord of the Rings." or do you say "Lord of the Rings meets Looper in my novel such and such." Note: this is not a real novel :) Thanks!!

I’m not sure it really matters as long as it’s easy to understand. Here are some examples:

FINDING EDEN by Mindee Arnett is Firefly meets White Cat.

Mindee Arnett’s debut novel, THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR, is Paranormalcy meets Hex Hall.

THE PLANET THIEVES by Dan Krokos is “Rick Riordan meets Star Trek.”

Beautifully written and full of action GATES OF THREAD AND STONE is Lori M Lee’s debut novel, a YA fantasy that will appeal to fans of Kristin Cashore.
